Perhaps one of the most important and memorable days of your life is your wedding day. The wedding and the reception usually go pretty smoothly. The one part of the wedding day that is often uncomfortable for some guests and members of the bridal party is ...
the dancing!
It's traditional for the bride and groom and perhaps the parents or members of the wedding party to dance. The bride and groom in particular usually dance to a special song by themselves. If you're used to dancing, no problem. If this is a new or previously uncomfortable situation for you, this could be the most dreaded part of your wedding day. It doesn't have to be.
So you have two left feet and no rhythm. Most people are more natural dancers than they think. They just haven't learned what to listen for in the music or have little structure to their movements. With a little understanding of the basics of directional movement, exposure to different kinds of music and a little practice, anyone can learn to dance. Everyone has different levels of comfort and natural ability. Some people require more time than others, but anyone can learn a few basics.
Some people want just the basics so they can as they say, "get through" their wedding. Many couples would like some basics in slow and fast dancing with a partner. The most common concern expressed by couples is that they don't want to "look stupid" on the dance floor. The best instructional options for these couples are private lessons, group classes, shared private lessons or specialty groups. Other people want the basics and more. They want to learn some of the traditional ballroom dances such as the waltz or jitterbug. They want to learn for their wedding, but they also want to do something fun together that they can do a lifetime.
