Private Lessons

Private lessons offer flexible scheduling and individualized instruction from and expert instructor. It's a great way to learn classic ballroom dances such as Foxtrot and Waltz, fun dances such as Swing and Merengue, steamy Latin Dances including Salsa and Cha Cha, the passionate Tango or Country and Social dances.  People preparing for a wedding usually prefer personalized private lessons for the wedding couple or with some parents or the whole bridal party. 

Advance in your dancing at your own pace. Sometimes groups move a little too fast or a little too slow. Although private lessons are more expensive per hour, they can be a better value for the dollar spent. They may actually be LESS expensive over all.  

A couple may often spend the same amount on group lessons in a month. In many cases, a 30-minute private lesson every other week will accomplish as much or more as a month of classes with a group of people.

Private lessons also offer more flexibility in scheduling, content and rate of instruction.  Private lessons are $75 per hour for a couple or single in Madison and $50 per hour for a couple or single in Blue Mounds.  Lessons times are available by appointment.  Marlene teaches, in Madison Mondays and Wednesdays and occasionally on other days.  She is available in Blue Mounds the rest of the time. 

Cancel and Reschedule Policy

In a private lesson you are really purchasing the time of a professional teacher and dance space.  For that reason, there is a 24 hour cancel/reschedule policy which gives the instructor the opportunity to rebook the lesson.  An open time spot is simply a financial loss unless the time can be made up otherwise. 

First do try to make it to your lesson.  Rescheduling is often difficult and time consuming, however,if you do have an emergency, are too sick for your dance lesson or the weather makes driving too dangerous, schedule a make up lesson in addition to your regular lesson. 

Your instructor, Marlene will most often be there in almost any weather and is rarely sick herself.  She does however drive to Madison from Blue Mounds.  While she rarely asks this of her students,  if she is sick or it's too dangerous for her to drive, she asks for your mutual understanding by scheduling a make up lesson in addition to your regular lesson.

To schedule your first private lesson, it's best to call 608-270-1550.  You will need a credit or debit card number to secure your time.  Your card is not charged.  You are simply making a reservation just as you do for a hotel.  At your lesson, you can use the same or a different card, a check or cash.  Perhaps you will even be redeeming your gift certificate.
